									<p>ALOR SETAR, 13 April 2026 – A Power BI Workshop was successfully conducted by Programmatix 3ZERO Club in collaboration with the School of Computing and Informatics (SCI) Committee and KhitTa 3ZERO Club. The workshop took place at the Wakaf Lab, Level 2, SBSS Building. The workshop aimed to provide participants with hands-on experience in Microsoft Power BI, enabling them to develop interactive dashboards and gain practical data visualization skills for both academic and professional applications.</p><p>The session attracted students from various faculties, including the School of Computing and Informatics (SCI), the School of Business and Social Sciences (SBSS), and the School of Education and Human Sciences (SEHS). This diverse participation created a collaborative learning environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and the exchange of ideas among participants. During the workshop, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of Power BI, including connecting to datasets, creating visualizations such as charts and tables, and designing interactive dashboards using filters and slicers.</p><p>In addition, they learned essential data transformation and cleaning techniques within Power BI. Participants were also guided through several key Power BI formulas which enhanced their ability to perform data analysis effectively. A collaborative activity was conducted where participants worked together to build a complete data analytics dashboard, applying the concepts and techniques learned throughout the session. Following the group activity, participants were assigned an individual task to further reinforce their understanding.</p><p>They were required to create their own Power BI dashboard using a different dataset, applying the formulas and visualization techniques covered during the workshop. Additionally, a brief introduction to GitHub was provided, where participants learned how to upload their data files and maintain proper backups, promoting good data management practices and familiarity with version control platforms. The workshop successfully provided participants with a strong foundation in Power BI while enhancing their analytical and data visualization skills.</p><p>The combination of hands-on activities and collaborative learning made the session engaging, interactive, and highly beneficial. This initiative reflects the strong collaboration between Programmatix 3ZERO Club, the SCI Committee, and KhitTa 3ZERO Club in promoting digital skills, data literacy, and practical learning experiences among students. 									<div>ALOR SETAR, 13 APRIL 2026 &#8211; Afifi Nordin, a lecturer from the Political Science and International Relations Programme was recently selected to participate in an International Writing Workshop for Early Career Researchers from the Global South, held in Rio de Janeiro. The workshop focused on the intersection of peace and conflict studies and humanitarian studies, bringing together emerging scholars engaged in critical and policy-relevant research.</div><div><br />The programme was organized by Global South Mediation (GSUM) and hosted by the Institute of International Relations of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). It was fully funded by the British Academy, reflecting its commitment to supporting Global South scholarship and fostering inclusive academic collaboration.<br />The workshop brought together a diverse group of early career researchers from countries including Thailand, the Philippines, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, and Brazil. Notably, Afifi was the only participant selected from Malaysia, highlighting both his academic merit and the growing recognition of Malaysian scholarship in critical international studies.</div><div><br />Afifi was selected based on his research abstract titled “The Resilience Trap: State Governance and the Production of ‘Bearable Bare Life’ among Rohingya Refugees in Malaysia”. His work critically examines how resilience discourse can function as a governance strategy, shaping the lived experiences of displaced populations.<br />Throughout the intensive programme, participants engaged in academic training, writing development sessions, and scholarly exchange, aimed at strengthening research outputs and publication readiness. Afifi was mentored by Prof. Dr. Punam Yadav, Director of the UCL Humanitarian Institute, whose expertise in gender, humanitarianism, and peacebuilding provided valuable guidance for refining his research.</div><div><br />Reflecting on the experience, Afifi noted that the workshop not only enhanced his academic writing and critical engagement but also fostered meaningful intellectual exchange among scholars from diverse Global South contexts. The initiative aimed to equip students with essential knowledge and hands-on experience in data analytics tools, enabling them to build a strong foundation for both academic and professional applications. </p><p dir="ltr">The bootcamp attracted participants from various faculties, including the School of Computing and Informatics (SCI), the School of Business and Social Sciences (SBSS), and the School of Education and Human Sciences (SEHS). This diverse participation fostered a dynamic and collaborative learning environment, encouraging interdisciplinary interaction and knowledge sharing. </p><p dir="ltr">On the first day, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of Python programming, including variables, data types, and basic syntax. They were also exposed to key data analysis libraries such as Pandas for data manipulation and Matplotlib for data visualization. The session emphasized hands-on practice, allowing participants to apply their knowledge through guided exercises and real-world examples. The second day focused on Microsoft Excel as a powerful data analysis tool. Participants learned essential functions, along with practical techniques for efficient data retrieval and management. Real-life scenarios and exercises were incorporated to demonstrate how these functions can enhance productivity and streamline data-related tasks. </p><p dir="ltr">On the final day, participants explored data cleaning and preprocessing techniques using Python, including handling missing values, removing duplicates, and preparing datasets for accurate analysis. In addition, an introductory session on Power BI was conducted, where participants learned to create interactive dashboards and visually engaging reports, further strengthening their data visualization skills. </p><p dir="ltr">The bootcamp provided participants with valuable exposure to essential data analytics tools and significantly enhanced their technical competencies. The collaboration between the SCI Committee, KhitTa, and Programmatix 3ZERO Clubs contributed to the smooth execution and overall success of the programme. This initiative reflects a strong commitment to promoting digital skills, data literacy, and practical learning among students. 									<div>ALOR SETAR, 8 APRIL 2026 – The Centre for Student Affairs and Alumni (CSAA) successfully organised the AIU Student Medical Insurance Briefing for Local Students, held from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM at LT4. The programme aimed to educate local students on the medical insurance coverage provided by the university.</div><div><br />The briefing was delivered by Mr. Hazween Eyzwann bin Sharif, with the attendance and support of Mr. Mohd Noorizam bin Abd Rahim, Director of CSAA, Ms. Nurul Izzati Ramli, Mr. Muhammad Faiz Jelani, and Mr. Mohamad Ariff Musthapa Kamal.</div><div><br />During the session, students were briefed on the scope of coverage, including outpatient treatment at panel clinics, hospitalisation and surgery, as well as death and disability benefits. The session also provided guidance on the proper procedures when seeking treatment, such as visiting panel clinics first, obtaining referral letters for specialist care, and identifying emergency situations. Important rules, limitations, and exclusions were also highlighted to ensure students have a clear understanding of their coverage.</div><div><br />The briefing also introduced a new insurance package specifically for local students. Previously, the insurance provider was Zurich; however, the package was found to be limited despite its high cost, resulting in low utilisation among students.</div><div><br />In response, CSAA collaborated with Tradewinds to develop a new and more beneficial insurance proposal. The new providers, MediExpress and Takaful, offer more comprehensive coverage, including both outpatient and inpatient services, at a more affordable monthly cost per student.</div><div><br />At the end of the session, medical panel cards were distributed to students to facilitate access to panel clinics and hospitals.This initiative reflects CSAA’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of local students by providing access to better healthcare coverage and equipping them with the necessary knowledge to utilise their insurance benefits effectively.</div><div> </div><div>#AIU #InspiringMinds #3ZEROClub #5ACoreValues #8HourRule</div><div class="ahR"> </div>								</div>

<p>The programme was organised by Gabungan Pelajar Melayu Semenanjung (GPMS) Kuala Kedah in collaboration with the Centre for Student Affairs and Alumni (CSAA), Albukhary International University (AIU).</p>
<div>The initiative aimed to record the recitation of Takbir Raya, which will later be shared as part of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration. The programme also served to strengthen unity, ukhuwah (brotherhood), and collaboration among students, educational institutions, and members of the local community.<br><br></div>
<div>Representing Albukhary International University, five international students participated in the recording programme, showcasing the university’s diverse and multicultural community. The students were:<br><br></div>

<div>Their participation highlighted AIU’s international presence and the spirit of inclusivity, where students from various countries come together to celebrate Islamic traditions and cultural values.<br><br></div>
<div>The Takbir Raya recording video will be shared once the production and editing process is completed, allowing the wider community to experience and appreciate the spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.<br><br></div>
<div><p>This initiative reflects the shared commitment of both AIU and GPMS Kuala Kedah to promote Islamic values, cultural traditions, and community engagement, particularly during the blessed month of Ramadan leading up to the celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.</p>

									<div>ALOR SETAR, 16 March 2026 – Albukhary International University (AIU), through a collaboration with NAMA Foundation and Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), successfully organised Ramadan Iftar Gathering on 4th March 2026.</div><div> </div><p>The iftar aims to strengthen institutional collaboration, enhance engagement of international students and reinforce shared commitments towards supporting global education mobility and scholarship initiatives.</p><div><br />The event also reinforces bonding among education institutions through a gathering of 72 AIU International students sponsored by NAMA Foundation, representatives and students from UUM, UniSIRAJ, USM,UTP and UniKL.</div><div><br />The event was mainly sponsored by NAMA Foundation and further supported by EMGS and AIU.
