AIU Strengthens Academic Ties with ETH Zurich Through Academic Exchange

ALOR SETAR, 30 December 2025 — Albukhary International University (AIU) continues to strengthen its global academic engagement through an academic exchange visit to ETH Zurich, Switzerland, by Associate Professor Dr. Ayesah Uy Abubakar.

The visit, held from 12 to 18 December 2025, was hosted by the Centre for Security Studies (CSS), ETH Zurich. Dr. Ayesah was welcomed by Mr. Simon Mason, Head of the Mediation Support Team, and Ms. Katrina Abatis, Senior Programme Officer. The engagement provided a valuable platform for dialogue on peacebuilding, mediation, and global security.

During the visit, Dr. Ayesah engaged with researchers working on peace processes in Asia, the Swiss women mediation network, cybersecurity, and space security. She also presented her work on peacebuilding and the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda in the ASEAN region.

The programme included an introduction to the Master of Advanced Studies in Mediation in Peace Processes and other professional training programmes offered in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. These initiatives aim to equip emerging diplomats and practitioners with advanced skills in conflict mediation and peacebuilding.

This marked the first formal engagement between AIU and the Centre for Security Studies at ETH Zurich, opening avenues for future academic collaboration and reinforcing AIU’s commitment to producing globally competent and socially responsible graduates.
