ALOR SETAR, 23 February 2026 – The Malaysian Students Association (MaSAA), in collaboration with the Centre for Student Affairs and Alumni (CSAA) and INITIATE.MY (Peace Lab for Malaysian Leaders and Thinkers), successfully organised an academic dialogue titled “Dialogue on Freedom and Tolerance: Perspectives from Islam and Modern Thought” at the Auditorium, Albukhary International University on 12 February 2026.
The session featured two distinguished speakers presenting complementary perspectives. Mr. Abdul Wafi, Lecturer of Islamic Finance, shared insights from the Islamic viewpoint, while Mr. Afifi Nordin, Lecturer of Politics and International Relations, discussed freedom and tolerance through the lens of modern political thought. The dialogue explored themes of moral responsibility, social ethics, and the balance between faith and reason.
Moderated in a structured and respectful format, the programme included an open Question and Answer session that encouraged active participation from students and academic staff. The dialogue aimed to promote balanced understanding, critical thinking, and respectful engagement on complex ideological issues.
Under the theme “Where Faith, Reason, and Humanity Converge,” the initiative reflected AIU’s commitment to nurturing holistic leaders, fostering intellectual openness, and strengthening unity within its diverse university community.
