ALOR SETAR, 15 December 2025 – Albukhary International University (AIU) reaffirmed its commitment to community empowerment and environmental sustainability through an outreach programme with villagers of Kampung KEDA Bukit on 5 December 2025.
Conducted under the research grant Promoting Sustainable Waste Management led by Prof. Dr. Salfarina Abdul Gapor, the initiative aimed to enhance environmental awareness and encourage sustainable daily practices within the community. AIU students led interactive awareness sessions on composting, recycling, and responsible waste management, complemented by hands-on demonstrations that allowed villagers to apply practical techniques at home.
The programme also welcomed 13 mobility students from Singapore as part of their experiential learning visit, enriching cultural exchange and strengthening collaboration. Supported by SBSS co-researchers, lecturers, and AIU executives, the initiative highlighted AIU’s 3 Zero commitment of Zero Poverty, Zero Unemployment, and Zero Net Carbon Emission.
Overall, the outreach strengthened university–community ties and created meaningful learning experiences for both villagers and students, reflecting AIU’s ongoing dedication to inclusive and impactful engagement.
