
AIU Wins UMK Business Case Study Competition 2025 for Innovative Circular Economy Solution

ALOR SETAR, 14 November 2025 – Albukhary International University (AIU) has achieved another milestone by winning first place at the Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) Business Case Study Idea Virtual Competition 2025 on 15 October 2025, recognizing their innovative proposal in circular economy and sustainable food waste management.
The national-level competition, organized by UMK’s Global Entrepreneurship Research & Innovation Centre (GERIC) and Entrepreneurship Institute (UMKEI), featured 25 participants from higher education institutions across Malaysia under the theme “Inspiring Technology & Innovation Through Sustainable Entrepreneurship.”
The winning AIU team comprised Zakiyah Hasanah, Novila, and Muhammad Ikhlas Ardinata, guided by Madam Nur Arfah Abdul Sabian, who served as the team’s advisor. Their project presented a creative circular economy solution addressing food waste management through technology and community collaboration. The team was awarded RM300 for their outstanding performance.
Second and third places went to teams from UMK, whose proposals focused on ethical finance and social entrepreneurship in healthcare, earning RM200 and RM100 respectively.
According to the organizing committee, the competition highlighted the importance of combining innovation with sustainability. “We’re thrilled to see diverse and impactful solutions that prioritize both innovation and sustainability. These entries demonstrate how entrepreneurship can address real environmental and social challenges.”
Held from September to October, the month-long virtual competition encouraged participants to align their ideas with Malaysia’s green economy vision and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting sustainability-driven entrepreneurship among students and educators alike.
