AIU and Axiata Foundation explore pathways in education, leadership, and community development
ALOR SETAR, 31 October 2025 – Albukhary International University (AIU) recently welcomed a delegation from Axiata Foundation, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mohamad Kamal Nawawi, to discuss potential collaborations in education, leadership, and community development.
The meeting explored joint initiatives aimed at advancing equitable access to education for deserving Malaysian candidates, nurturing future leaders, and driving impactful community projects.
At the core of the discussion was the Axiata Equity in Education Fund, a platform that AIU can leverage to identify and support deserving students for admission through scholarship opportunities. The Foundation also introduced the Axiata Young Talent Programme, offering AIU an opportunity to cultivate leadership qualities and enhance professional development among students and emerging staff.
In addition, both institutions identified potential synergies in community engagement and social innovation, particularly through Axiata’s Community Investments framework. This collaboration aims to empower local communities through education, digital inclusion, and sustainable development programmes.
Axiata Foundation’s regional footprint, with strong operations in Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Cambodia, also presents valuable pathways for AIU students. Through strategic cooperation, AIU graduates could gain access to Axiata’s network of companies and social initiatives, paving the way for meaningful career and leadership opportunities upon returning to their home countries.
Also present during the meeting were the AIU Vice Chancellor and President, Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Mohd Saleh Bin Jaafar, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Dr. Hj. Mohamad Abdullah Bin Hemdi, Registrar, Madam Norpisah Binti Mat Isa, and Deputy Registrar and Director of the Centre for Corporate Planning and Communication (CCPC), Mr. Abdul Shakur Bin Abdullah. From Axiata Foundation, Senior Director of Strategic Communications and Programmes, Madam Sheemi Mayanti Binti Abdul Jalil, joined alongside other executives from both institutions.
