
UGREAT 2025 Pitch Competition Finale Highlights Student Innovation

ALOR SETAR, 14 October 2025 – The UGREAT 2025 Pitch Competition Finale was successfully held as part of the university’s orientation programme for newly registered local students at Albukhary International University (AIU). Designed to build confidence, creativity, and innovation, the event gave students a platform to present their ideas while fostering teamwork and communication skills. The competition was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ir. Dr. Mohd Saleh Bin Jaafar, who delivered a welcoming speech to inspire participants as they embark on their journey at AIU. The session was officially officiated by the Director of the Centre for Foundation and General Studies (CFGS), Madam Alia Hanim Zainal Abidin.
The judging panel featured Madam Nurul Hamidah Hamdi as Head Judge, alongside the Heads of Programme in Foundation Studies, Mr. Abu Dzarr Muhammad Rus and Madam Irdayu Ibrahim. Their professional evaluations ensured fairness and provided valuable feedback, while also recognising the creativity and innovation demonstrated by the students. The finale showcased the students’ potential to think critically and propose impactful solutions within a limited time frame.
At the conclusion of the event, Nur Alia Ameerah Binti Abu Tolib, a student from Foundation in Arts, was crowned Champion, while Muhammad Fariezqandar Akmal Bin Mohd Farid, from Foundation in Computing, was named First Runner-up. The UGREAT 2025 Pitch Competition was a collaborative project by the Centre for Foundation and General Studies (CFGS), Language Centre (LC), and the Centre for Student Affairs and Alumni (CSAA), led by Mohd Fadli Zakaria, lecturer at CFGS. The initiative underscores AIU’s commitment to nurturing student talent and supporting the holistic development of its new undergraduates.
