
UGREAT 2025 Opens with a Spirit of Collaboration and Growth

ALOR SETAR, 30 September 2025 – The UGREAT 2025 Opening Ceremony took place at the Albukhary International University (AIU) Auditorium, marking the start of a four-week journey for new Malaysian students to ease into university life.
UGREAT, the University Undergraduate Acceleration Programme, is designed to help students adapt academically, socially, and personally. The programme features modules on English and Communication Skills, Mathematics, and Mental and Physical Wellbeing. It is a collaborative effort by the Centre for Foundation and General Studies (CFGS), the Language Centre (LC), and the Centre for Student Affairs and Alumni (CSAA), led by Mohd Fadli Zakaria, Lecturer at CFGS.
The ceremony began with hosting by Hnin Hnin Htet Htet, an alumna of the Foundation Studies programme. An inspiring opening speech was delivered by Nur Umairah Shuhadah Mohd Nazri, Head of Facilitators for UGREAT 2025, followed by the official launch by Mdm Alia Hanim Zainal Abidin, Director of CFGS. Also present were Mdm Sherina Shahnaz Mohamed Fauzi, Director of LC, and Mr. Nidhoil Mohamed Ibrahim, Director of CSAA, alongside academic staff who will contribute as speakers throughout the programme. Their presence underscored the strong institutional support behind this meaningful initiative.
Through UGREAT 2025, AIU reaffirms its commitment to supporting students’ holistic development and ensuring a smooth transition into higher education. By equipping students with essential skills and fostering a sense of community, the programme reflects the university’s dedication to nurturing resilience, confidence, and academic readiness in its future graduates.
