ALOR SETAR, 19 August 2025 – The Bangladeshi Students Community AIU (BASCA) marked the first anniversary of the July Revolution 2024 with a commemorative program titled “Echoes of July Revolution: Debate and Cultural Night” at the AIU Auditorium.
The event began with the grand finale of an international debate competition in the Asian Parliamentary format. Debaters engaged on the motion, “This House Believes That the Youth Leadership of the July Revolution 2024 in Bangladesh Demonstrates the Need for Greater Youth Representation in National Politics.” Team For the Sake of Argument emerged champion, with Tongue & Dagger as runner-up.
The evening continued with a cultural showcase featuring traditional songs, a documentary on the July Revolution, and a dramatic performance inspired by last year’s events. A prize-giving ceremony followed, with cash awards, hampers, and trophies presented to the winning teams and semifinalists.
The program was graced by His Excellency Md Shameem Ahsan, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Malaysia, as the Chief Guest, alongside representatives from the High Commission. The occasion drew an audience of students, faculty, and university leadership, reflecting both AIU’s multicultural spirit and the commitment of BASCA to honouring their national heritage.
