ALOR SETAR, 5 August 2025 — The AIU Myanmar Students’ Association (AMSA), in collaboration with the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) Myanmar, successfully concluded the Qur’an Burmese Translation Enhancement Project with a Closing Ceremony and Special Public Talk Session at the AIU Auditorium on 2 August 2025.
From 23 to 31 July 2025, a total of 22 dedicated AMSA volunteers took part in an intensive enhancement programme to review and refine the Burmese translation of the noble Qur’an prepared by IIIT Myanmar. Under the guidance of Associate Professor Dr. Maulana Akbar Shah @ U Tun Aung from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), the volunteers worked tirelessly to identify and correct punctuation, grammatical, and spelling errors in the translated text.
The proofreading process was meticulous, in which volunteers checked the translation verse by verse, line by line, ensuring that every surah title, surah number, and textual detail matched accurately. Volunteers also reviewed their assigned sections and cross-checked each other’s work to ensure maximum accuracy and quality. Some volunteers spent entire days working on a single section, showing extraordinary patience and commitment.
The project culminated in a Closing Ceremony and Special Talk Session titled “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘱𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘊𝘰𝘴𝘮𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘘𝘶𝘳’𝘢𝘯” led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maulana Akbar Shah, Dr. Mohd Abbas Abdul Razak, and Dr. Alizaman Dumangcag Gamon from IIUM.
Each of them delivered insightful talks exploring the Qur’anic worldview, inspiring attendees to deepen their understanding of knowledge, existence, and faith. The event also featured an experience-sharing session from volunteers who reflected on their journey in the programme, as well as a certificate presentation ceremony to honour their exceptional service.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chit Ko Ko, President of AMSA, expressed heartfelt appreciation to all collaborators, speakers, and volunteers.
