ALOR SETAR, 16 June 2025 — Albukhary International University (AIU) proudly participated in the SUKAN MASISWA 2025 Football Tournament, held from 10 to 15 June 2025 at UNITEN, Selangor. The national-level tournament, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) and hosted by UniKL MIAT, gathered 12 private higher education institutions (IPTS) from across Malaysia, offering a competitive and enriching platform for university athletes.
This event marked AIU’s first-ever participation in a football competition under the SUKAN MASISWA banner. Drawn into a challenging group with top contenders Universiti Islam Selangor (UIS) and Universiti Poly-Tech Sains dan Seni (UNIPSAS), AIU FC delivered a spirited performance throughout the tournament. While the team did not progress beyond the group stage, it is noteworthy that both (UIS) and (UNIPSAS) went on to secure the championship and first runner-up positions, respectively.
Despite the results, the experience provided AIU’s student-athletes with invaluable exposure and insight into the level of play required at the national stage. The tournament served as a vital learning opportunity, and the team remains determined to continue improving both individually and collectively.
AIU encourages the university community to keep supporting and believing in AIU FC. The lessons gained at SUKAN MASISWA 2025 will form the foundation for future growth and success as the team prepares for upcoming competitions.
