ALOR SETAR, 4 March 2024 – During a recent online meeting, officials from Albukhary International University (AIU) engaged in discussions with a partner from Nigeria, specifically the As-Safa Educational Foundation (As-Safa), aiming to explore avenues for facilitating student enrolment from the Southwest region of Nigeria.
The virtual meeting, conducted on February 29, 2024, served as an ongoing collaborative dialogue, considering As-Safa’s consistent support for deserving students in specific provisions not encompassed by AIU scholarship offerings.
Brother Olatunji Yusuf Ayolo Uthman, a Member of the As-Safa Board of Trustees, provided an overview of their foundation’s mission and initiatives. He expressed a desire for AIU’s allocation in recruiting additional deserving students for the upcoming intake, given a strong interest among Nigerian students from Southwest Nigeria in accessing high-quality education at AIU.
AIU was also informed that Mariyam Jumoke Taofeeq, an AIU student and a semi-finalist in the Pidato Antarabangsa Bahasa Melayu Piala Perdana Menteri 2023, received assistance from As-Safa.
Meanwhile, Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Abd. Aziz Tajuddin highlighted the overview of the academic programmes, scholarship requirements, and admission process, including eligibility criteria, required documents, and deadlines. He emphasized that AIU is actively seeking bright individuals from underprivileged backgrounds who demonstrate the 5As Core Values. These individuals should be passionate about pursuing studies at AIU and driven to make a positive impact on themselves and society.
The meeting concluded positively, with both parties agreeing on action items and defining responsibilities.
Present from AIU was Mr. Abdul Shakur Abdullah, the Director of the Corporate Communications and Marketing Department, alongside Members of the Board of Trustees from As-Safa, Brother Akorede Ridwanulahi Uthman, and Dr. Salami Mutiu Olagoke.
