AIU Hosts Kolej Teknologi Yayasan Sabah Delegation

ALOR SETAR, 9 February 2024 – Yesterday, a delegation from Kolej Teknologi Yayasan Sabah (KTYS) embarked on a courtesy visit to Albukhary International University (AIU) to deepen the ties between the two esteemed educational institutions and explore avenues for future partnerships.
Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Abd. Aziz Tajuddin, the Vice Chancellor and President of AIU welcomed the delegation which was led by Datuk Hajjah Tah Nia Haji Jaman, Chairman of the Board of Directors, KTYS.
The Vice Chancellor and President of AIU then gave a presentation to kick off the visit, which was followed by a lively discussion highlighting common interests and values in addition to possible areas of collaboration, like student recruitment and community projects in some of Sabah’s poorest districts.
During the presentation, the Vice Chancellor and President of AIU gave a general overview of the university, delving into specific details including scholarships, admission procedures, the Social Business, and 3ZERO initiatives spearheaded by the students, and emphasized the impacts of these activities on students’ learning, community livelihood, and environmental sustainability. He mentioned that this year, AIU plans to admit 80 students from Sabah, granting them scholarships to pursue their studies at the university.
“We look forward to welcoming more students from KTYS to join our scholars here, and we can work together concerning academic arrangements, such as credit transfers, etc. before the start of the new intake,” he added.
Meanwhile, Datuk Hajjah Tah Nia lauded AIU’s dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment, echoing the shared values of both institutions.
“I am very impressed with AIU and praise the Founder of this university for setting this esteemed institution to provide tertiary education to those in need, with scholarships and such quality education to support their studies. I hope that the ongoing collaboration between our institutions flourishes for the benefit of the younger generations from Sabah,” expressed Datuk Hajjah Tah Nia.
Besides discussion, the delegation had the opportunity to tour AIU’s state-of-the-art campus facilities, accompanied by five AIU students who are alumni of KTYS. This firsthand experience offered valuable insights into AIU’s comprehensive approach to nurturing the next generation of global leaders.
Accompanying the visit from KTYS were Tuan Haji Salleh Eddris and Tuan Kassim Buntak, who serve as Members of the Board of Directors of KTYS, along with Haji Samin Haji Ongki, the Chief Executive Officer of KTYS, Ahmad Nooramin Ismail, Dean of Academic Affairs at KTYS, and two additional officers.
Meanwhile, representing AIU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Basheer Riskhan, the Dean of the School of Computing and Informatics, Abdul Shakur Abdullah, the Director of the Corporate Communication and Marketing Department, and two accompanying officers.
