The responsibilities of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) (DVCRI) is placed under the direct purview of the Vice Chancellor and President.
There are three centres under the responsibilities of DVCRI, namely AIU Centre of Excellence in Socio-Economic Development and Innovation (ACE-SEDI), Centre for Research and Innovation Management (CRIM), and Centre for Community and Industry Engagement (CCIE).
This portfolio encompasses the advancement of the University’s research profile, research performance, and the cultivation of a culture of research excellence and high-quality training. It also includes leading strategic initiatives to foster collaborations and partnerships with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and the global research community. The aim is to produce applied research outcomes with meaningful global impact, particularly in the domain of social business.
AIU Centre of Excellence in Socio-Economic Development and Innovation (ACE-SEDI)
Albukhary International University (AIU) aims to be a university of repute in its niche area, which is ‘Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ and this objective can be achieved through the establishment of an interdisciplinary research entity, commonly identified as research centre or institute.
- ACE-SEDI is established with the purpose of advancing scholarly activities, primarily through collaborative research, networking and linkages, research training, research dissemination, or other creative endeavours.
- ACE-SEDI will collaborate with AIU-Yunus Social Business Centre (YSBC) to undertake applied research programmes designed to transform communities at the bottom of our wealth pyramid.
Centre for Research and Innovation Management (CRIM)
The Centre for Research and Innovation Management (CRIM) is dedicated to transforming society through inclusive, sustainable, and purpose-driven innovation.
Guided by the principles of Social Business and the vision of achieving the Three Zeros (Zero Poverty, Zero Unemployment, and Zero Carbon Emissions), CRIM serves as a catalyst for change, empowering communities and fostering impactful research and development.
Key Focus Areas:
Promoting social innovation and entrepreneurship through interdisciplinary research and community-driven initiatives.
Developing innovative solutions that address real-world challenges such as poverty alleviation, sustainability, and job creation.
