ALOR SETAR, 23 September 2025 – TechNexus, a student-led 3Zero Club under the School of Computing and Informatics (SCI), has been making waves at Albukhary International University (AIU) with its mission to tackle Zero Unemployment through skill-based learning. Since its launch in early 2025, the club has hosted impactful workshops, bootcamps, and peer-learning sessions designed to provide students with the hands-on experience needed for the modern job market, under the guidance of Associate Professor Dr. Basheer Riskhan.
Formed by five Year-2 Computer Science students, TechNexus aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world technical skills. With an emphasis on coding, teamwork, and industry tools, the club has quickly become a hub for students eager to enhance their employability. The initiative is supported and supervised by Associate Professor Dr. Basheer Riskhan, ensuring that activities align with educational objectives and industry standards.
In January 2025, TechNexus, in collaboration with the SCI Committee, kicked off its activities with a two-day Cybersecurity & Data Science Pre-Specialization Workshop.
Day 1: Facilitator Mudassiru Nasiru (AIU alumnus, MSc Cybersecurity candidate) introduced students to the world of cybersecurity through both theory and practical exploration.
Day 2: Facilitator Md Serajun Nabi (AIU alumnus, Graduate Research Assistant in AI, Multimedia University) led an engaging session on Data Science and AI, giving students a glimpse into the future of technology.
The event attracted strong participation, helping first- and second-year students make informed choices about their specialisation.
In February 2025, TechNexus launched the MERN Stack Web Development Bootcamp, a two-month intensive programme held every weekend. The bootcamp quickly gained attention, with over 60 students registering, though due to limited resources, only 30 were accepted.
Students are currently learning:
- Frontend development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js)
- Backend development (Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB)
- Teamwork and project-building skills
The bootcamp also includes assignments, attendance requirements, and a final project, where participants will showcase their work and compete for prizes.
Alongside technical workshops, TechNexus has been supporting Year-1 students in programming and mathematics through peer study sessions. These informal sessions allow juniors to clarify concepts, prepare for exams, and build confidence in challenging subjects.
So far, TechNexus has engaged more than 150 students across its events. The club’s upcoming initiatives include workshops such as Introduction to Databases and a Django REST Bootcamp. In addition, TechNexus plans to expand beyond campus by visiting local schools to conduct tech awareness sessions and inspire future students.
By combining workshops, bootcamps, and peer support, TechNexus continues to fulfil its mission of addressing graduate unemployment. Guided by Associate Professor Dr. Basheer Riskhan, the club is not only equipping students with practical skills but also building a community of innovation, collaboration, and confidence.
