
SEHS Away Day 2025 at Cinta Sayang Resort Emphasizes on Curriculum Review, New Programmes

ALOR SETAR, 25 August 2025 – The School of Education and Human Sciences (SEHS)—comprising of Bachelor in Early Childhood Education (BECE), Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEE), and Bachelor of Media and Communication programmes—led by Dean Prof. Dr. Abdul Malek Bin Abdul Karim conducted the yearly Away Day for 2025 at Cinta Sayang Resort, Kedah province, Malaysia. The session lasted for a period of three days, from August 14 until August 16. It was attended by heads of programme, administrative and as well as academic staff. The primary agenda was existing curriculum review to meet the Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF) and Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) standards.
The event got to a start on August 14 in the afternoon with welcoming remarks delivered by Dean Professor Dr. Abdul Malek Bin Abdul Karim, overview of Away Day objectives and programme flow by SEHS Executive Tun Nazhatul Syima, and MQA requirements and strategic direction briefing by Ms. Nur Faridatul Jamalia Radzali. Overall programme reviews for BEE, BECE, and BMC were conducted later that evening. Among the important discussions that evening was the initiation of new programmes namely Bachelor in Instructional Technology (Honours), and Bachelor in English with Business Management (Honours) tabled by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tengku Shahrom Bin Tengku Shahdan and Ms. Rubini Radza respectively.
On the second day, August 15, a morning session featured MQA expert Prof. Dr. Nurahimah binti Mohd. Yusoff on compliance regulations and requirements. It was followed by a question-and-answer session. Programme Curriculum Constructive Alignment (PCCA) and curriculum review took precedence during the afternoon and evening respectively.
The third and final day of the session, August 16, featured a morning session by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bakare Kazeem Kayode on addressing MQA feedback related to the Master of Education programme. Bachelor’s programmes focused on final review, consolidation, action pla,n and timeline for next steps. The Dean delivered the closing remarks, stressing on the importance of the entire exercise and timely follow-up for proper academic compliance, before the event wrapped up at noon.
SEHS Away Day 2025 included facilities such as pick-up and drop-off for opting staff, accommodation, and timely meals and refreshments at the resort. Electronic logistics, event emcee and transportation convenience responsibilities were handled by the Head of Bachelor of Media and Communication (BMC) Mohamad Nor Hisyam Bin Musa.
