ALOR SETAR, 18 June 2025 – The Centre for Foundation and General Studies (CFGS) at Albukhary International University (AIU), in strategic collaboration with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and the Penang Math Platform (PMP), officially commenced the first session of the ENGAGE Program on 15 June 2025.
The program targets Form 3 and Form 4 students (ages between 15–16 years old) from 30 selected schools across all five districts in Penang. Its core objective is to strengthen communication and interpersonal competencies through engaging, skill-based learning. Appointed lecturers from AIU and USM are jointly involved in the design and delivery of the Communication and Presentation Module which equips students with techniques in public speaking, teamwork and professional presentation. These efforts aim to prepare students for the Grand Final Hackathon, where they will present their final projects to a panel of judges and invited guests.
The ENGAGE Program officially kicked off on 12th June 2025 at its first school, SMK Saujana Indah in Nibong Tebal. The session featured trainers Madam Alia Hanim Zainal Abidin, Mr. Mohd Fadli Zakaria, and Miss Farah Nadiah Abdul Kudus, accompanied by two Foundation student volunteers. The interactive session focused on techniques such as voice projection, body language and effective pitching. Students actively participated in a pitching activity and received constructive feedback from the trainers to enhance their presentation skills.
The following day, the program continued at SMK Kampong Selamat, Tasek Gelugor, led by Madam Irdayu Ibrahim and Miss Farah Nadiah Abdul Kudus alongside two student volunteers. The ENGAGE Program will be conducted weekly at various schools throughout Penang until August 2025.
This initiative encourages greater participation from both students and academic staff in community activities, while also enhancing AIU’s visibility in Penang. It reflects the University’s ongoing commitment to shaping and supporting future leaders.
