
AIU Hosts Emotional Intelligence in Leadership Workshop

ALOR SETAR, 18 June 2025 – Albukhary International University (AIU) proudly hosted a dynamic leadership training session titled “Mastering Emotional Intelligence in Leadership”, which brought together 93 students from various academic disciplines. The event was held on 16 June 2025 at Lecture Theatre 6 (LT6), AIU campus, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and marked an important initiative in strengthening student leadership through emotional intelligence.
The programme was conducted under the academic supervision of Madam Noor Jannah Binti Afi, Lecturer and Head of Programme for the Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in Human Resource Management. It aimed to cultivate emotional regulation, self-awareness, and interpersonal skills—core competencies essential to ethical and effective leadership.
The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Muath Khalil Amayreh, Senior Lecturer at AIU, who delivered a research-based and thought-provoking session. He explored the neuroscience behind emotional responses and shared practical tools for managing emotional challenges faced by leaders. Students were guided through techniques to regulate emotions, build self-control, and navigate negative habits that can hinder personal and professional growth.
The session also saw the participation of Mr. Nyan Phone Zaw, President of the AIU Student Representative Council (SRC), who graced the event as a special guest and showed strong support for student development initiatives.
This impactful programme was organized by a committed team of student leaders, led by Fathima Safna and Maccido Aminu, with coordination support from Ahmad Suliman. Their collective efforts ensured the smooth execution and success of the event.
The key highlights of the session included an in-depth discussion on how emotional intelligence supports personal development, emotional regulation, and mental well-being. Participants learned scientific techniques for managing negative habits and emotions, equipping them with actionable tools to enhance their leadership capabilities. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, encouraging student participation and thoughtful reflection.
