ALOR SETAR, 30 July 2025 – The School of Education and Human Sciences (SEHS) has proudly hosted the Workshop on Asian Teacher Educators for Climate Change Education (ATECCE) from 21st to 23rd July 2025. The three-day workshop aimed to advance Climate Change Education (CCE) by integrating sustainability principles into educational practices across Asia.
We were honoured to welcome our esteemed collaborators, Prof. Hiroki Fujii, UNESCO Chair in Research and Education for Sustainable Development at Okayama University, and Dr. Khalifatullah Fil’ard, Research Assistant Professor at Okayama University, who joined us as part of the Japanese delegation. Their contributions enriched the discussions on embedding climate consciousness in education.
The workshop was further strengthened by insightful sessions from Assoc Prof. Dr. Rabiatul Adawiah (Universiti Sains Malaysia) and Bro Muhaideen Abdul Kadir (Regional Centre of Expertise – RCE Greater Gombak), who shared impactful approaches on localising CCE in the Malaysian context.
Participants included 10 in-service teachers from SK Sultanah Asma and SK Tunku Raudzah, alongside 10 pre-service teachers from AIU’s Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEE) programme. The sessions were filled with engaging team building, collaborative dialogues, and meaningful reflections on the role of teachers in shaping a climate-resilient future.
This workshop not only empowered educators with critical knowledge and pedagogical tools but also opened doors for future collaborations between AIU and global institutions in the pursuit of climate-conscious education.
Together, we educate for a sustainable tomorrow.
