ALOR SETAR, 7 February 2025 – Albukhary International University (AIU) is taking bold steps to strengthen its global presence by actively exploring new collaborations with international institutions. With a strong focus on increasing the number of deserving students and expanding student and staff mobility, particularly in social business and social entrepreneurship, AIU aims to attract a diverse international community to its campus.
Professor Dato’ Ir. Dr. Mohd Saleh Jaafar, Vice Chancellor and President of AIU said AIU is committed to playing a key role in this initiative, in line with the Ministry of Higher Education’s vision to increase the number of international students in Malaysia to 200,000 in the coming years.
A significant move toward this goal is AIU’s strong interest in becoming a part of the newly established Malaysia-Uzbekistan Higher Education Consortium (MUHEC) during the First Malaysia–Uzbekistan Higher Education Forum at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris on 4 February 2025.
This collaboration will create opportunities for recruiting talented and deserving students, enhancing academic mobility, fostering joint research projects, and facilitating the exchange of best practices with leading organizations and universities in Uzbekistan, further strengthening AIU’s global reputation in higher education.
Also present during the Forum were Professor Dr. Abdul Malek Abdul Karim, Dean of the School of Education and Human Sciences (SEHS), Professor Dr. Khalid Hussain, Director of the Centre for Research and Innovation Management (CRIM), and Mr. Abdul Shakur Abdullah, Deputy Registrar and Director of the Corporate Planning and Communication Department (CCM).
