ALOR SETAR, 15 January 2025 – Albukhary International University (AIU) students and staff warmly welcomed the delegation from Maahad Darussalam Betong, Thailand, during the Majlis Tahlil Perdana Antarabangsa 2025 organised by Surau Mahabbatur Rasul today. The event, held in Alor Setar, was a celebration of unity, learning, and cultural exchange, marking a special occasion for both institutions.
The event began with an opening speech by the Chairman of Surau Mahabbatur Rasul, who expressed his gratitude to all attendees and emphasised the significance of such events in fostering international relations. The event continued with an insightful speech by Mr. Farad Abdool Motalib, Manager, International Student Unit AIU. He also gave a brief introduction to AIU, sharing insights into the university’s mission, vision, and its unique offerings.
The event was further graced by a speech from YB Muhamad Amri Wahab, the ADUN of Derga. In his address, YB Amri warmly welcomed the delegation from Thailand to Kedah, in line with the Visit Kedah 2025 initiative. He expressed his hope that this visit would strengthen the ties between Malaysia and Thailand, fostering continuous cooperation between the two countries.
The program continued with a Tahlil Perdana Antarabangsa, followed by a Selawat session, and concluded with a lunch where the delegation enjoyed informal networking and bonding.
The Maahad Darussalam Betong group then moved on to AIU for a tour of the campus. AIU students, especially those from Thailand, guided them through the university’s state-of-the-art facilities, showcasing its unique architecture and academic environment.
The event successfully strengthened the bond between AIU and Maahad Darussalam Betong, paving the way for future partnerships and collaborative efforts to support education and cultural exchange.
