ALOR SETAR, 11 January 2025 – Students and lecturers from the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme, specializing in Human Resource Management (HRM), at Albukhary International University (AIU) hosted the much-anticipated Debate Competition AIU-UUM-UiTM on 10 January 2025.
The programme, organized as part of the Compensation Management BHS3053 course, provided a platform for students from AIU, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perlis to engage in thought-provoking debates. The topics focused on key issues within compensation management, such as performance-based compensation and job evaluation processes.
Students from the BBA (HRM) programme led the event, guiding participants and ensuring smooth facilitation throughout the day. Each team presented their arguments in a structured debate format, showcasing their research skills and the ability to critically analyze real-world compensation issues. The programme aimed to enhance students’ public speaking, critical thinking, and communication skills while encouraging them to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations.
The competition was judged by a distinguished panel, including Madam Norpisah, Madam Masliza, Mr. Mokhlis, Mr. Afifi, Dr. Wan Aliaa from UiTM Perlis, and Dr. Siti Noorjannah from UUM, who provided insightful feedback and evaluation. The event was a success, with AIU securing the first prize, UiTM Perlis taking the second prize, and UUM and another AIU team receiving consolation prizes.
This debate competition not only highlighted the participants’ abilities to engage in critical discussions but also served as a platform to promote collaboration between AIU, UUM, and UiTM. The event underscored the importance of knowledge sharing and intellectual exchange across universities.
The competition concluded with a closing speech by Professor Dr. Hj. Mohamad Abdullah Hemdi, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), who praised the participants for their efforts and highlighted the importance of such events in fostering academic and personal growth.
The event was a resounding success, inspiring all attendees with the diverse and insightful discussions on compensation management. We look forward to more future collaborations and events.
