Bosnian Vezirov Dućan Explores Partnership Prospects With AIU in Virtual Meeting

ALOR SETAR, 13 March 2024 – Founders of the Association for the Promotion of Culture, Tradition, and Art Vezirov Dućan Travnik (Vezirov Dućan) in Bosnia, Mr. Edin Mehmedović and Prof. Dženana Bajraktarević recently engaged in a virtual discussion with Albukhary International University (AIU). Their aim was to discuss potential collaborations focused on facilitating deserving students from Bosnia and Herzegovina to pursue studies at AIU.
Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Abd. Aziz Tajuddin, Vice Chancellor and President of AIU presented an overview of AIU during the meeting. He emphasized scholarship opportunities, admission processes, and ongoing initiatives at the university. Moreover, he elaborated on how Vezirov Dućan could assist in identifying suitable candidates and explained the various collaboration models that AIU is adopting.
During the discussions, Mr. Edin highlighted their initiatives to promote the local Bosnian culture, tradition, and art through Vezirov Dućan. He also explained the association’s desire to support students, particularly those from Ibrahim Pasha Madrasa in Travnik, Bosnia.
He commented, “With the information we have gathered, we will take the necessary steps to assess eligible candidates according to AIU’s criteria and engage in initiatives to assist in covering the costs that candidates are required to bear.”
Having resided in Malaysia for three decades, Mr. Edin expressed gratitude towards the generosity of the Malaysian people and considered Malaysia his second home. Following his return to Bosnia amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr. Edin and his wife, Dženana Bajraktarević, who is a language professor at the Ibrahim Pasha Madrasa in Travnik, co-founded Vezirov Dućan to preserve Bosnian heritage while facilitating charitable initiatives.
Both parties expressed confidence regarding the potential collaboration and recognized the mutual advantages that could arise from such a partnership.
Mr. Abdul Shakur Abdullah, Director of the Corporate Communications and Marketing Department, also participated in the online meeting held on March 8th, 2024.
