ALOR SETAR, 29 February 2024 – Albukhary International University (AIU) recently hosted a dynamic engagement session with members of the Kedah Elite Media Club (KMEK), providing an insightful glimpse into its latest developments, scholarship, academic and community work initiatives, and future endeavours. Held on February 28, 2024, at the Chancellery Foyer, the event aimed to strengthen the bond between the institution and the press.
At the event, Mr. Kumaran Rajamoney, TV3’s Regional Correspondent and Treasurer of KMEK expressed his keen interest in establishing collaboration with AIU for community projects or acting as a bridge between AIU and talented individuals seeking scholarship support to pursue their studies.
“We can always work with AIU in any relevant events, particularly in community projects as KMEK also focuses on capacity building through CSR projects. With the work on the ground, we can also help facilitate the request for further assistance to AIU whenever necessary,” he commented.
During the session, Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Abd. Aziz Tajuddin, the Vice Chancellor and President of AIU shared comprehensive updates on AIU’s academic programmes, research initiatives, and community engagement activities.
He also highlighted the university’s commitment to providing quality education to deserving students with the award of scholarships while fostering a vibrant learning environment that nurtures intellectual curiosity and entrepreneurial values among students through Social Business and the 3ZERO Club.
He commented, “Given the positive impact of our accomplishments, we seek media support in raising awareness regarding scholarship opportunities, community projects, and our expertise and initiatives under Social Business.”
He added that with AIU’s student and community-centric approach, we dream of producing future leaders who are socially driven and able to empower marginalized communities and promote sustainable development.
“We anticipate that our alumni, equipped with the wealth of experience acquired during their time here, will be able to create a positive impact on society upon graduation. This resonates with the notion of Social Business advocated by AIU’s Chancellor, Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, who emphasizes, “Making money is happiness; making other people happy is super-happiness,” he further explained.
Present from AIU were Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohd Razali Muhamad, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Dr. Nor Azilah Husin, the Dean School of Business and Social Sciences (SBSS), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tengku Shahrom Bin Tengku Shahdan, the Dean School of Education and Human Sciences (SEHS), along with other Executive Committee Members. Meanwhile, KMEK representatives were among the Committee Members headed by Mr. Kumaran Rajamoney.
