ALOR SETAR, 5 February 2024 – A leadership workshop was held at the Albukhary International University (AlU) Auditorium on 1 February 2024, conducted by Dr. Abdul Razak Ahmad, Chairman of the Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) and Senior Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education.
The workshop, which was organised by the Nagashi Club, aimed to cultivate a deep understanding of the transformative impact of digital disruptions on the future workforce. The event brought together students and staff of AIU, in a bid to equip leaders with the skills necessary to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of the digital era.
During his address, Dr. Abdul Razak emphasized five essential qualities that future leaders, especially students, should adopt. These include proficiency in (1) sharp skills, encompassing the acquisition of digital skills and the ability to leverage data and digitalization, (2) smart skills, emphasizing collaboration and persuasion, (3) global perspectives, (4) multilingual abilities, and (5) possessing core knowledge and competencies relevant to specific job roles.
He further added that creating an organizational culture that fosters innovation, encourages employees to embrace change, and contributes to the development of cutting-edge solutions is extremely important. This commitment would significantly contribute to establishing a culture centred on ongoing learning and development, prioritizing the continuous improvement of workforce skills through upskilling and reskilling, and eventually ensuring their teams remain adaptable in the face of technological advancements.
The workshop served as a platform for students to learn and strategize for their future where adaptability and innovation are key to success, and where change is the only constant.
Joining the workshop were Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Abd. Aziz Tajuddin, the Vice Chancellor and President of AIU, along with Norpisah Mat Isa, the Registrar, and other colleagues heading various departments.
