
AIU Joins Humanitarian Discourse through “From Home to Shelter” Conference

ALOR SETAR, 3 February 2026 – Spark Hope Organization, in collaboration with the Sudanese Student Community (SSC) and Albukhary International University (AIU), successfully organised the conference titled “From Home to Shelter”, highlighting the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan and the devastating impact of war on civilians.
The conference shed light on critical challenges faced by affected communities, particularly in food security, healthcare, education, and safety. The programme featured opening remarks, video reflections from the ground, and a thought-provoking panel discussion on humanitarian responses and pathways toward peace in Sudan.
The panel brought together distinguished speakers: Ms. Dalia Yousif, Doctoral Candidate and Research Associate at TUM School of Technology and Social Sciences; Dr. Ayesah Uy Abubakar, Associate Professor, Bachelor of Social Development Programme; and Dr. Noorul Hafidzah Zawawi, Senior Lecturer and Head of Programme, Bachelor of Politics and International Relations, AIU. The session was moderated by Eilaf Salaheldeen Ahmed Mohamed, AIU Computer Science student and Research Fellow at the AMEL Institute.
The conference concluded with the presentation of tokens of appreciation by Ms. Nurzalyna binti Mohamed Zaki, Advisor to the Sudanese Student Community, together with representatives from Spark Hope Organization and SSC.
The event was attended by NGO representatives, AIU lecturers and students, members of the Sudanese community, and international participants, reflecting strong global solidarity with Sudan. The conference also highlighted the upcoming Ramadan Donation Programme to support Sudanese families affected by the conflict.
