
AIU Strengthens Records Management Capacity through Knowledge Connect Series

ALOR SETAR, 29 December 2025 — The Centre of Reference, Albukhary International University (AIU), successfully organised an internal training session under the Knowledge Connect: Expert Librarians Series as part of its continuous effort to strengthen professional competencies among library staff.
The session, titled “Effective Record Management: Classification, Retention, and Library Support for Departmental Records”, was held via Microsoft Teams and exclusively attended by the Centre of Reference staff. The programme aimed to enhance understanding of systematic record management practices in support of institutional governance and operational efficiency.
The session featured Professor Madya Ts Dr Asmadi Mohammed Ghazali from the Faculty of Information Science Studies, who shared practical insights on records classification, retention schedules, and the strategic role of libraries in supporting departmental record management. He also introduced the application of ISO 15489 as an international standard for records management and highlighted the importance of structured documentation, compliance, and accountability.
In addition, Prof. Madya Ts Dr Asmadi emphasised the need for strengthening institutional record governance through the development of Departmental Records Officers (Pegawai Rekod Jabatan – PRJ) across AIU, encouraging continuous professional development through recognised training programmes offered by Arkib Negara Malaysia.
The session enhanced staff understanding of effective records management practices and reinforced the Centre of Reference’s commitment to strengthening information governance and professional excellence within the University.
