ALOR SETAR, 1 December 2025 – Albukhary International University (AIU) continued its commitment to community empowerment through a sustainability outreach programme with villagers of Kampung KEDA Bukit and Kampung KEDA Perang on 28 November 2025. Led under the research grant Promoting Sustainable Waste Management by Prof. Dr. Salfarina Abdul Gapor, the initiative promoted practical environmental awareness and sustainable living.
Villagers participated in hands-on activities focused on recycling and creative waste transformation, including a tote bag workshop that taught participants how to repurpose discarded materials into eco-friendly products. The session encouraged sustainable habits while introducing skills with potential entrepreneurial value.
AIU students also played a key role by guiding participants through each activity, strengthening community engagement and gaining valuable real-world experience that reflects AIU’s 3 Zero commitment: Zero Poverty, Zero Unemployment, and Zero Net Carbon Emission.
The programme was supported by SBSS co-researchers and lecturers, along with AIU executives who contributed to ensuring its smooth execution. Prof. Dr. Salfarina expressed pride in the students’ enthusiasm and leadership, noting the initiative’s positive impact on both the community and student development.
