
AIU Students Shine at SBSS Seminar 2025 Nurturing Future Leaders in Economics and Finance

ALOR SETAR, 29 September 2025 – The School of Business and Social Sciences (SBSS), Albukhary International University (AIU), through the collaboration of its final-year students from the Bachelor of Finance (Islamic Finance) (BFIF) and Bachelor of Economics (BEC) programmes, successfully organized the SBSS Seminar on Contemporary Issues in Economics and Finance 2025 at the AIU Auditorium.
Coordinated by Mdm. Nur Arfah Abdul Sabian, the seminar highlighted the leadership and dedication of AIU students under the guidance of Mr. Mokhlis Ahmad Fuad, Head of Programme for BFIF, and Mr. Osaid J. Abduljawwad, Head of Programme for BEC.
At the heart of the event were the final-year project reports and research presentations by BFIF and BEC students. These sessions showcased diverse topics on contemporary economic and financial issues, reflecting the students’ ability to integrate academic knowledge with real-world challenges and propose innovative solutions.

• BFIF (Outstanding Case Analysis Project) – awarded to the team that demonstrated exceptional originality, strong reasoning, and an impactful case analysis presentation for the topic “A Case-Based Study on Petronas Dagangan Berhad Corporate Financing Decisions through the Lens of Shariah Principles” by:

• BEC (Outstanding Paper Presentation) – awarded to the team that demonstrated exceptional research originality, depth of analysis, and impactful presentation delivery for the topic “Investigating the Role of Foreign Direct Investment on Youth Unemployment Rate in Thailand” by:

Carrying the theme “Innovating Economic and Financial Strategies for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth”, the full-day programme also featured keynote speeches by Dr. Abdul Rais bin Abdul Latiff, Economist from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and Dr. Mohd Faisal bin Mustafa, Deputy CEO (Operations) of Lembaga Zakat Negeri Kedah (LZNK). In addition, the Industry–Academia Dialogue brought together prominent experts, including Mr. Aizuddinur Hj Zakaria, Founder and Principal of HAL Fintech Advisor, and Professor Dr. Yusnidah Ibrahim (AIU), who shared valuable insights on bridging academic research with industry practice.
This student-led initiative not only celebrated academic excellence through the Platinum Awards but also highlighted a range of other outstanding projects—reflecting the breadth of talent, innovation, and commitment demonstrated by AIU’s final-year students.
