Aminu’s big moment as the first AIU PhD student to complete Proposal Defense

ALOR SETAR, 17 September 2025 – 12 September 2025 was a day to remember at the Centre for Graduate Studies (CGS), and especially for Aminu Haliru Salame, our pioneering PhD student from Sokoto, Nigeria, as he officially became the first doctoral candidate at Albukhary International University (AIU) to complete a PhD Proposal Defense at AIU.

Aminu, a PhD candidate at the School of Education and Human Sciences (SEHS) , and sponsored by the Sokoto State Zakat and Waqf Endowment Commission, stood before the panel with confidence, presenting the depth and clarity of his research after months of discipline and preparation.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to his Main Supervisor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tengku Shahrom Bin Tengku Shahdan, and Co-Supervisor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bakare Kazeem Kayode, whose guidance and academic support have been instrumental in shaping this milestone.

Our sincere appreciation also goes to the entire panel for their thoughtful feedback and engagement during the session. A special note of gratitude is extended to Associate Prof. Ts. Dr. Irwan Mahazir bin Ismail from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), who served as the External Examiner. His critical insights and encouragement added great value to the discussion.
