ALOR SETAR, 4 September 2025 – On 28th August, Albukhary International University (AIU) hosted a 42-member delegation from Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Pattani Campus, Thailand, for a landmark academic and cultural exchange program designed to strengthen institutional collaboration and celebrate diversity.
The delegation, comprising seven academic staff and 35 undergraduate students from various education disciplines, was welcomed by the School of Education and Human Sciences (SEHS). The visit centered on curriculum management, teaching and assessment approaches, as well as updates from AIU’s research clusters.
In his welcome address, Professor Dr. Abdul Malek bin Abdul Karim, Dean of SEHS, emphasized on the importance of fostering meaningful cross-border collaborations, while also reaffirming AIU’s broader mission. “Our mission is to provide an opportunity to save humanity through community engagement programs,” he said, highlighting the university’s commitment to education that goes beyond classrooms and contributes to society.
The Dean also highlighted the expansion of AIU’s educational ecosystem. He announced that the AIU International School, which currently offers a Cambridge curriculum, will launch its secondary school this October. The initiative reflects AIU’s vision of nurturing learners from an early stage and preparing them to thrive in a global context. The session included the presentation of souvenirs by the Dean to PSU academic staff as a gesture of goodwill. SEHS lecturers were also in attendance, underscoring their support and commitment to advancing the collaboration.
The program featured an interactive brunch, allowing students from both universities to exchange experiences, followed by a campus tour. The tour began at the Bachelor of Media and Communication (BMC) studio, where PSU visitors explored AIU student-produced short films and editing facilities, before concluding at the university library, which the delegation found fascinating owing to its architectural design.
The PSU academic representatives included Ms. Chutamas Sathianphan (Educational Psychology and Guidance), Asst. Prof. Dr. Nattee Boonjan (Physical Education), Dr. Wacharee Rittiwat (Elementary Education), Dr. Palida Sairatthong Patanapichai (Elementary Education), Dr. Rusnee Susaro (Art Education), Asst. Prof. Dr. Tapanan Prateepko (Health Education), Mrs. Asnee Phongsa, and Mrs. Nurham Hahsa (International Affairs Office).
The impact of the visit is expected to extend beyond just one day. For AIU, it reinforced the university’s role as a globally engaged and culturally inclusive academic institution, while providing PSU with opportunities to explore joint research projects, faculty development initiatives, and student mobility programs. Both universities agreed that the collaboration would deepen in the coming years, positioning AIU as a hub for global engagement in higher education.
The AIU–PSU academic and cultural exchange stands as a milestone in the partnership between the two institutions, reaffirming their shared values of trust, inclusivity, and excellence.
