
AIU Wins Three Awards in First-Ever Participation at IPMA MUN Debate Competition 2025

ALOR SETAR, 3 September 2025 – Albukhary International University (AIU) participated for the first time in a Model United Nations (MUN) debate competition at the IPMA MUN Debate Competition 2025, held from 28 to 30 August 2025 at Kolej MARA Kuala Nerang. In this debut appearance, AIU students achieved an impressive milestone by winning three prestigious awards.
Competing in two councils — Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) — the team addressed pressing global issues:
𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗦𝗢𝗖: Examining how current trade policies, tariffs, and agreements shape global trade and international economic ties.
𝗨𝗡𝗛𝗥𝗖: Exploring the obstacles refugees face and the duty of nations to uphold their rights.
Award recipients:
Best Position Paper (ECOSOC) – Türkiye delegation: Aisha Mahadale and Muhammad Daffa Aulia Ridwan
Verbal Commendation Award (UNHRC) – Switzerland delegation: Rim Morhi and Cisse Mamadou Hasmiou
Most Outstanding Delegate (UNHRC) – Japan delegation: Sultan Hikmatyar and Muhammad Anas Sani Lawal
These achievements reflect the students’ dedication, critical thinking, and leadership skills, making their debut on the MUN stage an extraordinary success.
