AIU Celebrates Merdeka with “Taste of Merdeka Walk: Langkah Merdeka, Rasa Warisan”
ALOR SETAR, 29 August 2025 – Albukhary International University (AIU), in collaboration with its Library and Human Resource Department, successfully held the “Taste of Merdeka Walk: Langkah Merdeka, Rasa Warisan” to mark Malaysia’s 68th Independence Day celebration.
The programme gathered AIU staff and their families in a symbolic fun walk dressed in traditional attire and national colours, reflecting unity in diversity. During the walk, participants were treated to a heritage-inspired atmosphere with delicious traditional kuih, creating a cultural ambience that resonated with the Merdeka spirit.
Following the walk, the audience was inspired by Associate Prof. Dr. Tengku Shahrom’s motivational talk, “Merdekakah Kita?” and captivated by a special poetry recital (Deklamasi Sajak) from Madam Hamidah, who performed “Darah yang terpercik di baju – Norazimah Abu Bakar”
In his address, Prof. Dr. Hj. Mohamad Abdullah Bin Hemdi, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), highlighted the importance of nurturing unity and cultural appreciation within the AIU community to build socially responsible graduates and foster a strong campus spirit.
The celebration embodied AIU’s 5A’s Core Values – Adab, Amanah, Amalan, Akidah, and Akhlak – by promoting mutual respect, sincerity in preserving heritage, teamwork, shared belief in unity, and noble character through cooperation.
