ALOR SETAR, 22 August 2025 – The School of Computing and Informatics (SCI) at Albukhary International University (AIU) hosted its inaugural SCI Code Quest 2025 on 22 July 2025, a high-intensity coding competition designed to sharpen the problem-solving capabilities of students across disciplines.
18 teams representing the School of Computing and Informatics (SCI), the School of Business and Social Sciences (SBSS), and the Language Centre (LC) competed in a two-hour algorithmic challenge. Working under close supervision on the HackerRank platform, participants were tasked with solving four complex problems using programming languages such as Java, C, and Python without the assistance of AI tools, internet resources, or external aids.
The event opened with a Qur’an recitation, followed by remarks from AIU Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Hj. Mohamad Abdullah Bin Hemdi and SCI Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Basheer Riskhan, before the competition briefing.
The closing ceremony featured reflections by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Frederik Holst from SBSS, prize-giving, and concluding remarks by SCI Deputy Dean, Dr. Mozaherul Hoque Abul Hasanat, celebrating the commitment and teamwork displayed throughout the day.
The format rewarded precision and speed, with the top 5 teams distinguished for their outstanding performance. Winners received cash prizes and medals, proving the breadth of coding talent found across AIU’s diverse academic schools.
The SCI Code Quest marks the beginning of a new tradition at AIU, fostering analytical skills, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and competitive innovation.
