
AIU’s International Homeland Day and Night Market unite cultures through food and music

ALOR SETAR, 14 August 2025 – The International Homeland Day & Night Market was held on 5 August 2025 at the Chancellery Foyer, Albukhary International University (AIU).
Organized by the Centre for Student Affairs and Alumni (CSAA) in collaboration with the Student Representative Council (SRC), AIU Resident Council (ARC), and AIU Peers, the event marked the closing of AIU Wellbeing Week 2025.
The celebration aimed to promote cultural exchange, foster community spirit, and encourage student engagement through exhibitions, food, music, and performances. The award ceremony was a highlight of the evening, recognizing the efforts of participating booths with the following results:

- Best Exhibition Award
- 1st Place: Indonesia Booth
- 2nd Place: Thailand Booth
- 3rd Place: Myanmar Booth
- Best Cuisine Award – Malaysia Booth
- People’s Choice Award – Nigeria Booth (based on live audience voting)
Judging for the Best Exhibition and Best Cuisine awards was conducted by Professor Dr. Hj. Mohamad Abdullah Bin Hemdi and Mr. Mohammad Hafis Shafiq Bin Mohammad Sopian, while the People’s Choice Award was determined by popular vote from the attendees.
The event was graced by the presence of VIPs and special guests, including Professor Dato’ Ir. Dr. Mohd Saleh Bin Jaafar (Vice Chancellor and President), Professor Dr. Hj. Mohamad Abdullah Bin Hemdi (Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic), Mr. Nidhoil Mohamed Ibrahim (Director of CSAA), and Mr. Mohammad Hafis Shafiq Bin Mohammad Sopian (Counsellor), demonstrating strong institutional support for cultural and well-being initiatives.
The event successfully fostered unity, cross-cultural appreciation, and student well-being. It ended on a high note with smiles, cheers, and strengthened bonds among the international and local student communities at AIU.
