AIU Language Centre Empowers Local Students through ‘English Alive!’

ALOR SETAR, 29 July 2025 – The Language Centre of Albukhary International University proudly hosted English Alive!, a groundbreaking one-day English support programme for 79 Form 5 students from Maktab Mahmud Pokok Sena. Held at the AIU campus in Alor Setar, this immersive event aimed to enhance students’ spoken English skills in preparation for their SPM examination, with a strong emphasis on real-world communication, confidence-building, and cultural exchange.

 

What made English Alive! especially impactful was the dynamic leadership shown by LC’s own 33 student facilitators who mentored and guided participants throughout the day’s activities, which included collaborative learning activities, targeted speaking practice, and a sharing session by CFGS students— all embodying AIU’s spirit of service and cross-cultural collaboration.

 

The highlight of the day, the English Gameporium, transformed language learning into a vibrant, carnival-like experience. Through 15 themed game stations, participants engaged in activities designed to spark creativity, build vocabulary, and foster expressive confidence — all in a relaxed and encouraging environment.

 

This initiative exemplified the Language Centre’s commitment to applying its academic expertise in practical, community-centred ways. By creating a platform for knowledge transfer, mentorship, and experiential learning, English Alive! not only supported the academic goals of its young participants, but also empowered AIU students to grow as mentors, leaders, and global citizens.
