
CRIM hosts talk series on the journey from R&D to commercialisation

ALOR SETAR, 24 June 2025 โ The Centre for Research and Innovation Management (CRIM), Albukhary International University (AIU) hosted its Research & Innovation Talk Series titled โ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ฐ๐ถ๐ณ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐บ ๐ง๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฎ ๐&๐ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ค๐ช๐ข๐ญ๐ช๐ด๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ โ ๐๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ท๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐๐ต๐ข๐ณ๐ต-๐ถ๐ฑ ๐ช๐ฏ ๐๐ค๐ข๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ช๐ข.โ
The session, held at Lecture Theatre 6 on 20 June 2025, featured Prof. Dr. Samsilah Roslan, Director of Putra Science Park (PSP) at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), a renowned figure in the field of research and innovation commercialisation.
She shared the remarkable journey of PSP in transforming academic innovations into commercially viable products and services, contributing to million-dollar ventures.
During her presentation, Prof. Dr. Samsilah highlighted that a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, coupled with strong internal institutional support, is critical to accelerating and sustaining successful commercialisation efforts.
Prof. Datoโ Ir. Mohd Saleh Jaafar, Vice Chancellor and President of AIU, expressed optimism about potential collaborations with PSP to further develop AIUโs own research commercialisation ecosystem. He also announced that AIU would begin reviewing student-led innovations for commercial potential, with selected projects eligible for seed funding to support their development and market readiness.
The event is hoped to have ignited a stronger spirit of innovation and commercialisation among AIU researchers, in support of the universityโs vision to inspire minds and advance research driven by innovation.
