ALOR SETAR, 15 July 2025 — On 2 and 3 July 2025, the Centre for Foundation and General Studies (CFGS), in collaboration with the Centre of Reference, conducted a four-session Information Literacy Workshop for all Foundation in Arts and Foundation in Computing students. The initiative, coordinated by Mohd Fadli (CFGS), was part of the university’s effort to strengthen academic skills among foundation-level learners.
The workshop featured sessions led by speakers from the Centre of Reference: Nurul Izzati Sabri, Mohd Dzairil Azhar, Rabiatul Adawiyah Zulkifli, and Ernadia Wahida Binti Cluny. Particular emphasis was placed on two core components of information literacy: effectively navigating the university’s library resources and identifying credible sources for academic use. Students were introduced to key databases and digital tools, along with strategies for evaluating the accuracy, relevance, and authority of information from both online and print sources.
Designed to be practical and accessible, the sessions equipped students with essential tools and techniques for academic research. The workshop also provided early exposure to research practices, helping students prepare for the demands of higher-level coursework.
This collaborative effort reflects the university’s commitment to academic development through targeted, skills-based programmes that foster responsible and independent learning.
