ALOR SETAR, 14 July 2025 – On 3–4 July 2025, Albukhary International University (AIU) proudly welcomed students from SMK Tokai for their Kem Kecemerlangan Pelajar Tingkatan 5, held on campus. As part of the program, the Centre for Foundation and General Studies (CFGS) organized the EcoExplorace 2025, fully led by students from the Foundation in Computing (FIC) programme. The explorace was conducted as one of the activities for SMK Tokai students and is linked to the FSG112 Co-Curriculum and Leadership course. FIC students, who served as facilitators, were assessed on their commitment and performance throughout the event as part of their coursework.
A total of 53 students from SMK Tokai participated in the EcoExplorace, grouped into 10 competitive teams. The event featured five interactive checkpoints, each thoughtfully crafted to introduce students to AIU’s campus and emphasize one of its core values—particularly the commitment to Zero Net Carbon, in line with the university’s 3 Zero Vision.
At the first checkpoint, participants matched international flags, giving them a glimpse into AIU’s culturally diverse student body, which represents over 60 countries. The second checkpoint featured a mathematics-themed crossword puzzle titled “AIU by the Numbers”, where students learned interesting facts and figures about AIU’s students and staff. The third challenge involved solving a puzzle based on iconic AIU buildings, promoting awareness of the campus layout and architecture.
The fourth checkpoint included a hands-on sponge-and-bottle game using recycled materials, highlighting AIU’s focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility. Finally, the last checkpoint tested students’ focus and coordination through a cup-matching game that also encouraged teamwork in a fun and engaging way.
EcoExplorace 2025 was not only a fun-filled activity but also a meaningful learning experience for both the SMK Tokai participants and the FIC student organizers. For the FIC students, the event provided a platform to apply leadership, teamwork, and communication skills in real-life scenarios. From planning and execution to on-the-spot problem-solving and engaging with participants, they demonstrated initiative and adaptability while reflecting AIU’s values of sustainability, inclusion, and global citizenship.
This collaborative program stands as a testament to AIU’s dedication to nurturing future leaders through experiential learning and community engagement.
