ALOR SETAR, 24 June 2025 – Final-year students from the School of Business and Social Sciences (SBSS), Albukhary International University (AIU), successfully organised the fifth edition of the SBSS Social Business Conference, which took place from 18 to 20 June 2025 at the university’s Auditorium.
These final-year students represent various programmes under the School of Business and Social Sciences (SBSS), including the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Business Administration (Human Resource Management) (BBAHRM), Bachelor of Business Administration (Marketing) (BBAM), and Bachelor of Social Development (BSD).
Held under the theme “Advancing the SDGs through Business Management and Social Sciences,” this year’s conference brought students from the Seminar in Human Resource Management, guided by Madam Aliaa Diyana Zamri; Seminar in Marketing, led by Ms. Sharifah Hla Theingi Win; Seminar in Social Development Issues, under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr. Ayesah Uy Abubakar; and Social Business II, co-facilitated by Associate Professor Dr. Suraya Hanim Mokhtar and Professor Dr. Sofri Yahya.
Throughout the three-day event, participants engaged in keynote sessions, academic paper presentations, student competitions, and interactive discussions, all evaluated by internal and external judges. Students were mentored by their course instructors and inspired by invited speakers who shared valuable real-world perspectives.
A key highlight was the Poster Exhibition, where students showcased visual representations of their semester-long efforts. Each poster was developed based on students’ group projects and research manuscripts, offering a creative platform to translate academic work into concise, impactful displays aligned with social business and sustainability themes.
The success of this event was further supported by sponsorships from industry and community partners, including Friends of Palestine, whose contribution played a significant role in enabling the promotional activities and engagement initiatives.
The conference concluded with a Career Talk and Internship Opportunities session, conducted by DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang, which provided students with direct exposure to industry networks and pathways for professional growth.
This year’s conference was coordinated by Madam Aliaa Diyana Zamri, supported by a dedicated staff organizing committee comprising Ms. Sharifah @ Hla Theingi Win, Associate Professor Dr. Ayesah Uy Abubakar, Ms. Farah Syazwani Hayrol Aziz, Mr. Aiman Muqri Ahmad Shukri, Mr. Amirul Syafiq Mohd Ghazali, Ms. Nur Jazanadia Jamaludin, Ms. Siti Maizalaizzah Akma Adnan, Madam Noor Jannah Afi, Madam Aina Syafiqah Razali and Madam Nurul Fatihah Zainudin.
Participants gained valuable experience from the conference by applying their academic knowledge to practical settings, engaging directly with real-world community challenges, and proposing innovative social business solutions that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
AIU extends its heartfelt congratulations to all organising teams, students, staff, instructors, volunteers, and participants, as well as to all award recipients for their hard work and outstanding contributions to the success of the conference.
