ALOR SETAR, 13 June 2025 — Albukhary International University (AIU), through its School of Business and Social Sciences (SBSS), continues to reinforce its dedication to community engagement and social transformation through a strategic academic-community initiative. On 10 June 2025, a delegation from SBSS conducted an official visit to the Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society in Alor Setar. The visit aimed to explore collaborative opportunities in the areas of humanitarian relief, environmental stewardship, and civic empowerment.
The academic delegation was composed of prominent lecturers: Prof. Dr. Nor Azilah Husin, Prof. Dr. Sofri Yahya, Mr. Aiman Muqri Ahmad Shukri, and Ms. Nur Jazanadia Jamaludin, along with student representative Zakaria Seid Djom. The visit marks a significant step toward building a sustainable and impactful partnership between academia and civil society.
Both AIU and the Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society share a strong commitment to values such as compassion, volunteerism, and sustainable development. This common ground provides a strong foundation for long-term cooperation in joint community outreach initiatives, volunteer programs, and educational efforts that promote civic responsibility among youth and society at large.
This initiative is not only an opportunity for meaningful collaboration but also a powerful platform for AIU students to gain experiential learning outside the classroom. Through engagement with real-world community projects, students will develop critical skills, empathy, and a strong sense of civic duty — aligning with AIU’s vision to produce graduates who are socially responsible, ethically grounded, and ready to lead.
Furthermore, the dialogue during the visit focused on identifying potential activities such as student volunteering placements, co-organized awareness campaigns, sustainability education programs, and public service projects that can be jointly implemented. These initiatives are expected to contribute positively to the well-being of underserved communities and the broader societal landscape in Malaysia.
AIU envisions this partnership as the beginning of a transformative journey where knowledge, compassion, and service converge to make a lasting difference. The university remains committed to nurturing meaningful collaborations with organisations that share its mission of empowering lives through education, service, and community leadership.
