AIU Launches AI-Enhanced Blended Learning Series with Flipped Classroom Workshop
ALOR SETAR, 4 June 2025 — Taking a forward leap in the direction of future-ready teaching, Albukhary International University (AIU), via its Centre for Development of Academic Excellence (CDAE), launched the initial module of its AI-Enhanced Blended Learning Workshop Series on 30th May 2025. The first online activities, named “Flip It Right — Turning Class Time into Thinking Time,” showed instructors how to use the transformative Flipped Classroom method combined with the latest in AI technology.
Held in Room 103, Building B9, the all-day workshop saw academic staff come together to learn about the way AI can transform content delivery and also free up classroom time. The inverted classroom, a teaching approach in which students prepare for class by consuming lecture material online to maximize class time in discussion and higher-order-thinking activities, was enacted through active learning and real examples of teaching.
Attendees discovered how to create pre-class resources with the likes of ChatGPT and Desmos and explore platforms for tracking student readiness and creating engaging content. The focus of the session was shifting educators from delivering content to facilitating learning.
This workshop is a component of a bigger project of CDAE to enable educators with cutting- edge pedagogies and technology that are congruent with both Albukhary’s mission “Inspiring Minds”. Later modules in this series will address the Flex Model, Enriched Virtual Model, and Project-Based Blended Learning.
