ALOR SETAR, 3 June 2025 – Albukhary International University (AIU), an institution grounded in values of inclusivity, compassion, and global excellence, took the lead in motivating rural youth during a session titled “Halatuju Selepas SPM” (Direction After SPM), held as part of Kem Jati Diri Siri 3 at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Serdang on 30 May 2025.
Attended by 60 students from rural areas in Pontian, Johor. Dr. Ziyad Zaharim, from AIU’s School of Business and Social Sciences (SBSS), was invited as the guest speaker for this impactful session. The session aimed to provide practical and realistic insights into post-secondary education pathways. It was co-organised by Jawatankuasa Penduduk Keselamatan Kampung (JPKK) Kampung Sungai Bunyi and Kampung Teluk Kerang, with the support of the Student Council of Kolej Tan Sri Aishah Ghani (KTAG), UPM.
As a fully residential, non-profit university committed to social transformation, AIU is known for offering quality education to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, both in Malaysia and internationally.
Dr. Ziyad Zaharim highlighted the university’s distinctive approach to nurturing future leaders — individuals who are not only academically capable but also socially conscious and ethically driven. The session explored a variety of post-SPM pathways, including matriculation, diploma programmes, Form Six, polytechnics, UiTM, and private universities with an emphasis on affordable and scholarship-supported models such as AIU.
Students were encouraged to consider their personal strengths, interests, and family situations when making decisions about their future. Recognising the unique challenges rural students face from financial constraints to limited access to guidance, the session served as both an inspirational and practical guide to overcoming barriers and planning for long-term success.
Kem Jati Diri Siri 3 continues to champion academic resilience and leadership among youth from B40 communities. This year, organisers aspire to achieve a 100% SPM pass rate and full higher education enrolment for all participants.
Special thanks were extended to Dr. Daljit Singh, Principal of Kolej Tan Sri Aishah Ghani, for his continuous support and leadership, and to Mr. Hafis Kamaruddin, fellow at KTAG, for his hands-on coordination and dedication to making the programme a success. Appreciation also goes to the proactive efforts of the Student Council of Kolej Tan Sri Aishah Ghani (KTAG), these ambitions are no longer distant dreams, but achievable realities.
