ALOR SETAR, 29 May 2025— Final-year students from the Bachelor of Economics (Honours) (BEC) programme at Albukhary International University (AIU) have successfully completed a meaningful community initiative — Program Latihan Digital Usahawan PKS (Digital Training Programme for SMEs). This two-day workshop held from 27 to 28 May 2025 at the Auditorium was specially designed to equip local entrepreneurs under the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) with practical digital marketing skills.
The programme was spearheaded by four dedicated BEC students, Suhaila Binti Tajip, Mohammed Mohammed Qaid Saleh Omairan, Alhassan Ibrahim Ali Hassan, and Muhiaddin Abdi Awl under the supervision of Dr. Azni Abdul Rashid.
The event kicked off with a dynamic session on social media marketing and business strategies, led by Madam Noorasyikin Mohd Noh. Her engaging presentation covered the essential “4 Ps” of marketing — Product, Price, Place, and Promotion, and offered insightful tips on market segmentation tailored for SMEs.
Participants then dove into the world of design with Mr. Masrani Awang, who introduced them to Canva and shared techniques for creating eye-catching, brand-consistent posters. Suhaila Binti Tajip later led a hands-on tutorial, guiding participants step by step through the process of designing their own promotional posters.
Day two began with an inspiring welcome speech by Madam Siti Mariam Bt Md Rejab, MADA’s Head of Business Development. She applauded the participants’ enthusiasm and expressed hope that the knowledge gained would continue to benefit their businesses long after the workshop.
The focus then shifted to video marketing. Muhammad Lukman Hakim bin Mohshen, a BMC student, introduced the basics of video editing using CapCut. With many participants already familiar with the app, the session was interactive and engaging. Suhaila followed up with a practical guide, helping each participant create and edit their own business videos.
Entrepreneurs then explored the AIU campus to film their content, returning to edit their videos with support from facilitators. The day wrapped up with a lively sharing session where participants presented their posters and videos, receiving valuable feedback and encouragement.
The programme concluded with a closing ceremony that recognized the hard work and commitment of all involved. Special appreciation was extended to MADA as a co-organizer, and certificates and souvenirs were presented to trainers and participants.
This impactful initiative portrayed the passion and professionalism of AIU’s BEC students, Suhaila, Mohammad, Alhasan, and Muhiaddin, supported by their supervisor Dr. Azni Abdul Rashid and lecturer Mr. Osaid N.A. Abdaljawwad from the School of Business and Social Sciences.
