Language Land Adventure: AIU BEE Students Host Engaging English Program in Collaboration with AIU International School
ALOR SETAR, 15 January 2025 – In a dynamic collaboration with AIU International School (AIUIS), 27 final-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEE) students from the School of Education and Human Sciences (SEHS) of Albukhary International University (AIU) successfully organised the ‘Language Land Adventure’ program on 13 January 2025.
This initiative, under the guidance of Madam Aini Syahira Jamaluddin, Head of Programme for BEE, was part of the EEC3113 Teaching English in Education course. The primary objective of the program was to expose student-teachers to diverse educational settings and prepare them for their second teaching practicum in August, which encourages placements in private or international schools. This initiative follows their first practicum, which was conducted in government schools.
The Language Land Adventure program was designed as a full-day event that featured a variety of interactive activities aimed at enhancing speaking, reading, and listening skills among upper elementary students. The program included exciting and educational games that fostered an enjoyable learning atmosphere while encouraging active participation. Through these activities, participants were not only able to practice their English skills but also developed a deeper interest in language learning. The student-teachers took the lead in planning and conducting these activities, showcasing their creativity and classroom management skills.
The program was a resounding success, with students and participants expressing enthusiasm and satisfaction. It provided the student-teachers with invaluable hands-on experience in handling diverse learners in a private school setting, aligning with the program’s goals. Moreover, it strengthened the collaboration between AIUIS and SEHS, setting a positive precedent for future partnerships. Through Language Land Adventure, the student-teachers have gained essential skills and confidence to excel in their upcoming practicum and future teaching careers.
