Undersecretary Amihilda J. Sangcopan Resumes Engagement With AIU for Student Enrolment Opportunities

ALOR SETAR, 4 March 2024 – Undersecretary Amihilda J. Sangcopan, responsible for Mindanao Affairs at the Department of Agrarian Reform, Republic of the Philippines engaged in a productive meeting with Albukhary International University (AIU) on March 1, 2024, concerning the enrolment of qualified students from Mindanao.
Undersecretary Amihilda expressed the government’s commitment aimed at improving the prospects of the youth in Mindanao. She emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between the Office for Mindanao Affairs and AIU to offer deserving students from Mindanao the chance to pursue their educational aspirations at AIU.
“Since my previous visit to AIU in October 2019, I have been eager to reestablish the partnership that was interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. We desire to resume sending students by October 2024. It’s all geared towards the welfare and development of the youth in Mindanao,” she said.
The Vice Chancellor and President of AIU, Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Abd. Aziz Tajuddin, reiterated AIU’s dedication to collaborating with the Office for Mindanao Affairs in extending educational opportunities to deserving students from Mindanao.
“AIU remains committed to improving the well-being of communities through education and sponsorship. It’s rather crucial to support marginalized students from the Philippines, especially considering the relatively low number of Filipino students currently enrolled. With Undersecretary Amihilda’s assistance, we are optimistic about increasing the number of students in the upcoming intake,” he remarked.
The meeting, held virtually, focused on discussing scholarship criteria, admission procedures, and the mutual obligations of both parties in assisting with student applications and admissions.
The meeting also assembled Mr. Abdul Shakur Abdullah, Director of the AIU Corporate Communications and Marketing Department, Haji Zulkifly Baharom, Chief Executive Officer of Sejahtera Leadership Initiative, Miss Hamidah Guro, Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer I, Mr. @Rafsanjani Matabalao Guiapal, Executive Assistant IV, Roselyn Segovia, Executive Assistant II, and Mohd-al Rhayan J. Sangcopan, Executive Assistant II.
