Parental Involvement in Children’s Literacy Development Seminar
Greetings,
4 October 2023, School of Education and Human Sciences (SEHS), Albukhary International University, organised a fantastic seminar on “Parental Involvement in Children’s Literacy Development” which took place at the Baling Public Library. This remarkable event is a collaboration with the Kedah Public Library Corporation and the North Regional Language and Library Council.
A total of 125 enthusiastic participants, including teachers and parents from Kemas Baling and pustawan from PPAK, came together to explore the world of children’s literacy. There were three insightful papers were presented:
- Preschool Literacy by Prof. Dr. Nor Hashimah Hashim
- Selection of Children’s Books by Dr. Hussairi Hussin
- Illustration of Children’s Books by En Khairul Azuwan
Additionally, the event also featured the launch of the “Preschool Children’s Literacy Development Module: A Guide for Parents” by Mr. Armin Azhari Saleh, Director of the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, Northern Region
This module, created by a team of dedicated lecturers from Albukhary International University’s School of Education and Human Sciences, is packed with engaging literacy development activities that parents can easily implement at home.
