“The Implementation of SDG 11 and the Prospects of Zero Carbon Emissions”

4 September 2023, Albukhary International University (AIU) had the honor of hosting Dr. Marie Danielle Guillen from the University of the Philippines for a fascinating discussion on achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aiming for zero carbon emissions, focusing on Metro Manila, Philippines.

Dr. Danielle, an expert in public transport and urban planning, shed light on the challenges faced in reducing carbon emissions in Manila due to its densely populated nature and heavy reliance on fossil fuels. However, she highlighted the ongoing efforts to transition to sustainable practices and renewable energy, promoting green jobs and sustainable business practices.

Although the path to zero carbon emissions is challenging, the journey starts with local initiatives, such as those at AIU, and involves collaboration across sectors, education, and raising public awareness. Let’s aim high and work together for a cleaner, greener future!
