SUNGAI PETANI, May 3-5,2024 – The Albukhary International University (AIU) Cricket Club showcased outstanding performance and sportsmanship throughout the tournament held in Sungai Petani. This prestigious event involved the participation of esteemed teams, including representatives from Terengganu, Pahang, Perlis, Kedah, and Penang, gearing up for the upcoming Sukma Sarawak 2024.

In the group stage, our team demonstrated resilience and skill, securing victories in 2 out of 3 games. This commendable effort propelled us to the semi-finals, where we faced off against the formidable Sukma Kedah team. Although we fell short in the semi-final match, our team rallied together to secure an honorable third/fourth place position, competing against Penang.

The championship title was claimed by the Terengganu Sukma team, with the Kedah Sukma team securing the first runner-up position. AIU Cricket Club proudly clinched the second runner-up spot, a testament to our dedication and competitive spirit.

The State Education Department of Tamil Nadu India Holds a Virtual Meeting With AIU

ALOR SETAR, 18 March 2024 – Recently, Albukhary International University (AIU) joined a virtual meeting, with a potential partner from the State Education Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, India. Facilitated by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), the meeting aimed to explore opportunities for cooperation in sending qualified students to pursue studies at AIU.

Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Abd. Aziz Tajuddin, Vice Chancellor and President of AIU commenced the session by delivering a comprehensive introduction to AIU to all attendees. He further elaborated on AIU’s approach to developing well-rounded students, emphasizing the importance of the 5As Core Values, adherence to the 8-Hour Rule, and the implementation of Social Business and 3ZERO within the campus ecosystem.

Representatives from Tamil Nadu, headed by Ms. Uma Sankari emphasized the State Education Department’s responsibility to offer opportunities to thousands of top students from every district. She highlighted that the Tamil Nadu government has allocated a considerable budget for education in the fiscal year 2024/2025, indicating a substantial investment in the sector.

“Among the government’s initiatives is the establishment of model schools in educationally disadvantaged areas across ten districts of the state. Most students attending model schools come from underprivileged backgrounds, seeking equal chances to gain admission to prestigious institutions. I am deeply grateful to AIU for extending opportunities to outstanding and deserving students from Tamil Nadu, noting that the offer arrived at the right time and aligned perfectly with their objectives,” she said.

The meeting held on March 13th, 2024, ended positively, with the State Education Department taking the lead in identifying qualified students for admission to AIU.

Also present from AIU were Madam Norpisah Mat Isa, Registrar, and Mr. Abdul Shakur Abdullah, Director of Corporate Communications and Marketing Department. While from EMGS were Mr. Raja Muhamad Fariz Raja Eyuddin, Regional Manager and Noor Azlina Abdul Rahabudeen, Senior Regional Executive. Dr. Vijay attended, alongside Ms. Uma Sankari from the State Education Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.

Albukhary Al-qurán and Islamic Club, and Albukhary Mosque Organize Imam and Muazzin Workshop

ALOR SETAR, 15 March 2024 – Albukhary Al-Qurán and Islamic Club, in collaboration with Albukhary Mosque, recently organized the Imam and Muazzin Workshop on March 9^th, 2024, at Albukhary Mosque’s premises.

The aim of the workshop was to improve the skills and knowledge of 15 talented students from Albukhary International University (AIU), who come from various backgrounds and nationalities.

Practical training sessions were also conducted to hone the participants’ skills in adhan (call to prayer), salat al-jama’ah (congregational prayer), and other essential duties mosque leaders perform.

Several participants will be chosen to serve as Imams at Albukhary Mosque as needed. In addition, some will be selected to lead Taraweeh prayers at nearby musallas and mosques, and Tahajjud (night) prayers at AIU.

Albukhary Al-Qurán and Islamic Club and Albukhary Mosque plan to host similar events for interested students.

AIU SRC Members Elects New President

ALOR SETAR, 14 March 2024 – The Leadership Camp for newly elected Student Representatives Council (SRC) members was successfully organized by the Student Affairs Department of Albukhary International University (AIU) from March 5th to March 7th, 2024, at Hibiscus Sedim in Kulim Kedah.

One of the highlights of this Leadership Camp was the election procedure for key SRC positions. The process encompassed several stages: initial voting by all newly elected SRC members to nominate the top 5 candidates, evaluation of the top 5 candidates using a weighted score derived from both voting and individual rubrics, conducting interviews, and ultimately voting to nominate candidates for the 4 top SRC positions.

Brother Monir Mohammad Hamid Abdulrahman [AIU21102216] has been elected as the new President of SRC. He will be supported by two Vice Presidents: Brother Naufal Syauqi Abdul Halim [AIU22102129] as Vice President I and Brother Abdulmajid Aliya Muhammad [AIU22102349] as Vice President II. In addition, Sister Khin Myat Noe [AIU22102149] has been elected as the Secretary.

The primary objective of the Leadership Camp was to provide comprehensive training to newly elected SRC members, fostering the 5As Core Values and the development of their teamwork, critical thinking, and communication skills, alongside promoting a balanced and healthy lifestyle aligned with the principles of the 8-Hour Rule. The programme also facilitated the election process for key SRC positions, including President, Vice President I, Vice President II, and Secretary, for the year 2024.

The modules covered a wide array of topics crucial for cultivating effective leadership. The core modules included sessions on “Working and Leading Together” delivered by Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohd Razali Muhamad, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic); “Writing Effective Proposals” presented by Mr. Ahmad Muaz Azizan and Madam Nur Atikah Zainal Abidin; and “Getting and Keeping Motivated” led by Madam Fazlia Azhari. The talk also featured Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Abd Aziz Tajuddin, Vice Chancellor and President of AIU who addressed the participants on the “8-Hour Rule and 5As Core Values”.

ALOR SETAR, 13 March 2024 – Vice Chancellor and President of AIbukhary International University (AIU), Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Abd. Aziz Tajuddin received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Ardasher Saeedjaafar Qodiri, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Malaysia during his visit to Kedah on March 8^th, 2024.

At the outset, Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Abd. Aziz warmly welcomed the visit of H.E. Ardasher Qodiri and deeply thanked for the recent significant efforts by the Tajikistan Embassy in Malaysia in facilitating the applications of qualified students from Tajikistan to study at AIU.

H.E. Ardasher Qodiri conveyed his admiration for AIU’s dedication to offering opportunities for deserving students from Tajikistan to further their studies. He also extended an invitation for AIU to join the First Festival-Exhibition of Foreign Universities to be held in the capital city of Dushanbe, Khatlon, and Sughd regions from April 20^th – 26^th, 2024.

The visit concluded with a campus tour arranged by AIU students from Tajikistan.

Also present from the Embassy of Tajikistan were Attache Mr. Farhod Qiyomuddinov, and the Personal Assistant to the Ambassador, Mr. Muhammad Safarov. Representing AIU were the Registrar, Madam Norpisah Mat Isa, and the Director of Corporate Communications and Marketing Department, Mr. Abdul Shakur Abdullah.

Bosnian Vezirov Dućan Explores Partnership Prospects With AIU in Virtual Meeting

ALOR SETAR, 13 March 2024 – Founders of the Association for the Promotion of Culture, Tradition, and Art Vezirov Dućan Travnik (Vezirov Dućan) in Bosnia, Mr. Edin Mehmedović and Prof. Dženana Bajraktarević recently engaged in a virtual discussion with Albukhary International University (AIU). Their aim was to discuss potential collaborations focused on facilitating deserving students from Bosnia and Herzegovina to pursue studies at AIU.

Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Abd. Aziz Tajuddin, Vice Chancellor and President of AIU presented an overview of AIU during the meeting. He emphasized scholarship opportunities, admission processes, and ongoing initiatives at the university. Moreover, he elaborated on how Vezirov Dućan could assist in identifying suitable candidates and explained the various collaboration models that AIU is adopting.

During the discussions, Mr. Edin highlighted their initiatives to promote the local Bosnian culture, tradition, and art through Vezirov Dućan. He also explained the association’s desire to support students, particularly those from Ibrahim Pasha Madrasa in Travnik, Bosnia.

He commented, “With the information we have gathered, we will take the necessary steps to assess eligible candidates according to AIU’s criteria and engage in initiatives to assist in covering the costs that candidates are required to bear.”

Having resided in Malaysia for three decades, Mr. Edin expressed gratitude towards the generosity of the Malaysian people and considered Malaysia his second home. Following his return to Bosnia amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr. Edin and his wife, Dženana Bajraktarević, who is a language professor at the Ibrahim Pasha Madrasa in Travnik, co-founded Vezirov Dućan to preserve Bosnian heritage while facilitating charitable initiatives.

Both parties expressed confidence regarding the potential collaboration and recognized the mutual advantages that could arise from such a partnership.

Mr. Abdul Shakur Abdullah, Director of the Corporate Communications and Marketing Department, also participated in the online meeting held on March 8^th, 2024.

Final-year AIU SEHS Students Attend Leadership Enrichment Programme

ALOR SETAR, 11 March 2024 – An educational and leadership development programme targeted towards final-year students at the School of Education and Human Sciences (SEHS), Albukhary International University (AIU) took place from 3^rd to 5^th March 2024 in Kem Singkir, Yan, Kedah. This programme garnered attention from participants across various educational fields. The event was aimed at providing participants with opportunities to strengthen their leadership and teaching skills.

Led by primary facilitators from the State Education Department (JPN) and accompanied by SEHS Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tengku Shahrom Tengku Shahdan, as well as the Head of Programmes including Ms. Aini Syahira Jamaluddin, Ms. Aina Yasmin Mohd Amin, Mr. Mohamad Nor Hisyam Musa, and a BECE lecturer, Ms. Nur Faridatul Jamalia Radzali, participants were actively involved in a range of outdoor activities. These activities included kayaking, abseiling, marching, trekking, and survival activities. Additionally, they were provided with detailed information about the development programme and available opportunities to enhance their professionalism in the field of education.

Furthermore, participants were encouraged to share their knowledge and experiences with fellow attendees, while receiving guidance to improve their skills and knowledge in both education and leadership.

This programme provided an excellent platform to strengthen relationships among educators and expand their professional networks. It is hoped that this event will continue in the future, especially for the final-year students from all programmes.

SMK Seri Pantai Convenes a Meeting at AIU for the 2024/2025 School Session

ALOR SETAR, 9 March 2024 – Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Pantai (SMK Seri Pantai), located in Kuala Kedah, recently held its Teachers’ Meeting and In-Service Training at the Senate Meeting Room of Albukhary International University (AIU). The purpose of the meeting was to prepare for the upcoming 2024/2025 School Session, scheduled to commence on March 10th, 2024. The aim was to ensure the smooth operation of the school and to ensure that teachers were well-prepared before the commencement of the new school session.

Mr. Abdul Shakur Abdullah, the Director of Corporate Communications and Marketing, seized the opportunity to share with the audience the opportunities available for deserving students at AIU. He provided an overview of AIU’s academic programmes, approaches, scholarship offerings, and admission processes.

The meeting, convened on March 6th, 2024, saw a turnout of over 60 attendees, comprising teachers, counsellors, administrators, support staff, as well as members from the Parent-Teacher Association.

Mr. Rozaini Othman, Principal of SMK Seri Pantai expressed his gratitude to AIU Management particularly the Vice Chancellor and President, Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Abd. Aziz Tajuddin for generously allowing the school to use the facility for the meeting.

He highlighted that the meeting at AIU’s premises is just the beginning of a journey towards fostering meaningful educational collaborations between SMK Seri Pantai and AIU. He also hoped that their deserving SPM leavers would apply for admission at AIU for the upcoming October 2024 Intake.

ALOR SETAR, 8 March 2024 – Albukhary International University (AIU) Annual Dinner 2023 held on March 4^th, 2024, became the stage for the prestigious Teaching Excellence Awards 2023, recognizing educators who have shown exceptional dedication to teaching and learning. The event, held at the Convocation Hall, marked a significant milestone in acknowledging the academic prowess of outstanding faculty.

The evening, graced by esteemed judges including Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohd Razali Muhamad, Registrar, Madam Norpisah Mat Isa, and Professor Nor Hashimah Hashim from the School of Education and Human Sciences (SEHS), revealed Mr. Mohamad Mokhlis Ahmad Fuad as the inaugural winner.

Out of the 12 nominations submitted by students, the committee meticulously selected five qualified candidates. Following a thorough review of portfolios, assessment of essays, and personal interviews, four finalists emerged: Mr. Osaid N.A.
